Coolant, also known as antifreeze, is a fluid that serves two important purposes in an engine. As part of the cooling system of a vehicle, coolant primarily cools an engine when it is hot and prevents an engine from freezing when it is cold. Several different types of coolant fluids are available on the market. The coolant fluid that you should use in your vehicle depends on how your engine was designed and the use of your vehicle.

Coolant needs to be replaced over time. As it is continually cycled through an engine, the coolant begins to break down and cannot cool the engine as effectively. Additionally, while it protects engines from corrosion, the engine coolant begins to pick up particles as it passes over parts. Coolant can become ineffective over time and can actually begin to harm an engine when it gets too contaminated. There are several different blends of coolant to choose from, so you should follow your vehicle's manufacturer's guidelines when you are selecting a coolant to use in your vehicle.

Your Toyota's Coolant Fluid Change Schedule

Our dealership's service center technicians are here to help you anytime you need a coolant fluid exchange. When you bring your vehicle in for a coolant change, our technicians will find the coolant that the manufacturer recommends and flush out the old coolant from the vehicle's cooling system. After the coolant is completely flushed, the technicians will then fill up the system with the proper amount of coolant. It is recommended that you change your engine's coolant every three to six months for the most effectiveness. However, if your vehicle's manufacturer has a recommended coolant fluid change schedule in the owner's manual of your model, then we recommend following that schedule.
