Brake fluid is the key component of a vehicle's brake system. As a part of a hydraulic system that relies on pressure to operate, brake fluid gives the system adequate pressure when a driver applies the brakes of their vehicle. The hydraulic pressure that is built up because of brake fluid allows drivers to quickly stop vehicles that weigh thousands of pounds at the simple press of a brake lever. Brake fluid, like nearly every fluid in a vehicle, has to be changed after a certain amount of mileage has passed. As brake fluid ages, it begins to absorb and mix with water in a vehicle's brake lines. Water in a brake system can prevent the brake fluid from working as it is intended to. Therefore, the brake system has to be routinely flushed of old brake fluid; this includes any brake fluid that is in the brake fluid reservoir. While you can do a brake fluid exchange by yourself, we recommend bringing your vehicle to a professional if you are inexperienced. Due to your vehicle's brake system's importance, it can be dangerous to make a mistake during a brake fluid exchange.

Scheduling a Brake Fluid Change

We make it easy to have your brake fluid changed at our dealership. Many brake fluid manufacturers recommend that you change the brake fluid in your vehicle at least once every two years. However, your brake fluid change schedule depends on how often you drive and the areas that you commonly drive around in. To determine the brake fluid change schedule that will be best for your situation, we recommend following the guidelines that have been set by your vehicle's manufacturer in the owner's manual of your model.
